I was at the G20 in Toronto documenting the scenes from the streets and this story takes the cake for the most appalling treatment by police officers yet.
At the 3:58 point into the included video...listen to # 815 of the YORK REGIONAL POLICE...the CORPORATE OFFICER PATROLLING (COP) say; "this ain't Canada right now".
We're in 'G20' LAND (MASON-ville).
# 815 then says at the 4:56 point into the video; "there is no civil rights here, in this area".
COP # 815, who is actually far from his own REGION...of YORK, and in METRO TORONTO, actually seems to have knowledge, that he has the supreme right to deny a 'civilian', if 'he' so desires, their 'civil rights'...even in TORONTO.
Why?
Well...lets use the Dun & Bradstreet website again for some more insight to their CORPORATE (BUSINESS) STRUCTURE:
Regional Municipality Of York, The - Also Traded as York Regional Police.
and or;
Corporation of the City of Toronto - Also Traded as York Regional Police
The more and more I watch the G20 videos (I was there by the way) the more I believe our nation would be better off with a voluntary police service made up of citizens of the regions in which they live.
When you deduct a paycheck from destroying civil liberties you all of a sudden end up with a liberated society.
Those who would sacrifice freedoms in the name of safety deserve neither
Thank you for your post. I wasn't at the G20 event, I'm in B.C., but I've seen a lot of the videos and talked to those in Toronto who were at it, with their own various experiences, some worse than others. I totally agree with the above comment.
We need local control and creation of our own community governance. Deciding on the use of resources (including water), production of food and energy and as much of our needs as possible should be done locally, by the community. Any policing, or protection of inhabitants and the environment that needs to be done, should also be organised and carried out by local citizens for the well-being of each other and the community as a whole.
