The Banking Scam: Where Does Our Money Come From?

Veteran investigative journalist Sydney White presents a clear description of how our banks create money from nothing and lend it at interest. Who gave them the power to issue fiat currency? White not only answers this question, but many others in her exploration of the banking system, including the role of our central bank, the Bank of Canada, in the monetary mix. Our chartered banks have been granted the power to create the money required for consumer and corporate loans. Thus all borrowing has an inflationary effect that even the new rules for calculating inflation cannot hide. Some financial experts warn that western countries now operate as “debt economies,” where all moneys issued are not backed by any assets whatever, just debts.
In fact, the Canadian government could (and should) issue new money directly through the Ministry of Finance, without charging interest as the Bank of Canada and chartered banks do.
White’s journalistic experience covers a wide span, from globe-trotting to reporting and editing at the UN News Service, hosting her own radio show and lecturing at the Free University of Toronto . She is also an active member of the Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform and a frequent speaker on issues raised by media silence, misinformation -- or even disinformation -- that, as a result, remain largely unknown or widely misunderstood to this day.
