That whole situation is an odd one. From what I am hearing Petraeus is not only the General now, but he is also become quite acquainted with federal politics. Dare I say the commander of the US Army will one day sit on the throne of the Oval Office?

If I was minister of defence Id order the troops home from afganistan and order them deployed to gaurd our borders coast and air space and get them the best gear in the world to do it with.The Generals and Admirals would be ordered to make plans to counter attack any invasion force.Military Intelligence would be ordered to monitor any one remotely contemplating an attack on Canada with a military force.Nothing more should be required of our military they are not meant to be a force for corporations to expand profits they are meant to be a force for defense of Canada against any and all comers.Soldiers like General Butler could see war for what it is " a racket" too bad we dont have soldiers like that in the Canadian Armed Forces.
